Our Story

Roots deeper than our years.

Shelter from the Storm, Inc. was founded in 2023 — but the work goes back much further. The compassion behind it was shaped over decades, by people who saw what abuse takes from a family, and refused to look away.

We exist to be a refuge: a place where survivors of domestic violence and abuse can land softly, breathe, and find the people and resources to help them step into safety.

The core of our work is the continuous passion and dedication of partners and volunteers throughout the Central Indiana community. Every step forward has been taken together.

You can share as little or as much as you want. If you're in immediate danger, please call 911 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 right now.
